On November 22-26, 2023, at the Abu Dhabi Art Fair, Baia Gallery will represent Georgian contemporary artist Nino Kipshidze, who works with textiles and appliqu\u00e9.<\/p>\n

\u00a0During the fair, viewers will have a chance to see Nino Kipshidze\u2019s large-scale figurative works as well as her small textile compositions on paper.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Nino Kipshidze\u2019s artworks capture the eye with their extraordinary subtlety, resulting from the artist\u2019s ability to channel the full pictorial potential of the fabrics used and add a peculiar touch of expressiveness to the textile as a medium. Both figurative and abstract compositions follow the principles of easel painting, where appliqu\u00e9s and scraps of various textured and colored fabric resemble brush strokes against the velvet, silk, or linen backgrounds. However, the ultimate source of this rush of emotion lies in the harmonious balance between the decorative tectonics of textiles and the pictorial expressions of landscapes, still lives, and figurative compositions.<\/p>\n
