Info
Nino Moseshvili’s non-figurative paintings, which balance on the verge between abstractive and expressive shapes, present their objects in such a way that they create the impression of attending the process of disintegration and creation of a form. As such, they produce an effect of the purposeful dynamics of energy. Forms are modeled through brush strokes and color gradations: flickering massifs of mountains and water, or underground subway stations, are accompanied by the effects of pulsation, flowing, spurting and cascading like a waterfall on the large-scale canvases. By imitating the “spillover” of color and energy, the artist manages to emotionally engage viewers in her visual system – to immerse them in the pictorial “whirlpools” of her own creation, to share the secrets of the underworld, or to take them to the breathtaking tops of mountains. By repeating these motifs and the manner of execution, the artist creates an opportunity to transform “objects” into symbolic and aesthetic categories. Her abstractions resemble mines charged with energy, the effect of stellar explosions, the flickering texture of galaxies, or the swirling motion of water. This is an imitation of the processes involved in creating and transforming the earth, which also reveals the danger of its demise. The artist synthesizes the emotional stream emanating from the works with the drama of being dragged into a whirlpool or an underworld, presenting the notion of her own creation in a mystical formula.
