The exhibition “The Magic of the Landscape and Abstraction” presents an important model of Georgian culture of the XX century, which includes the forbidden course of abstract art in the conditions of Social Realism, the unofficial flow of Georgian painting, a progressive position, and the desire to share with international culture. The ideas of avant-garde and modernism, forcibly interrupted by Social Realism in the 1930s, are brought back to painting by the four stars of Georgian painting in a new form and break the closed system of Soviet ideology with the power of freedom of abstraction.
