On the 4th of May 1919, The Society of the Georgian Artists arranged the first large-scale exhibition of Georgian artists- Exposition de Beaux Art des Peintres Georgiens, in Temple of Glory, nowadays National Gallery of Tbilisi. Over fifteen artists participated in this event with 278 artworks. Among them was Niko Pirosmani, who died one year earlier. 

 On the 4th of May 2019, Baia Gallery presents the exhibition “Expo 1919 – 2019” dedicated to the 1919 Exhibition of Georgian Painters.

 Expo 1919-2019 will display artworks by the participants of the 1919 exhibition along with contemporary artists. It will show the spectrum of Georgian art during 100 years: XX c. 1920 – 1930s Modern and Avant-garde, 1940 – 1950s Soviet Art, 1960 – 1970s Abstractionism and Non-Conformism, 1980 – 1990s Postmodern and Contemporary art of nowadays from private Collection.
