XX Century  ART Territory – Georgia

The exhibition brings together a large group of artists who lived and worked in Georgia during the late twentieth century and contributed to various directions in the development of Georgian art. Through this exhibition, we aim to showcase the diversity, innovations, influences, and distinctions evident in the work of artists of the same era, whose collective achievements shaped the course of Georgian art during the Soviet and post-Soviet periods. Nonconformism, Abstractionism, Figurative painting, the influences of Post-Impressionism, Fauvism, and Magical Realism, along with other artistic tendencies, are comprehensively represented within the exhibition, presenting a significant current of Georgian painting that developed within Georgia from the 1970s through the 2010s, spanning nearly fifty years.

Most of the works come from private collections and are being exhibited publicly for the first time. The exhibition is also notable for presenting artists of different national backgrounds associated with the “Tbilisi School.”

Born and living in Georgia, these artists are regarded as important representatives of Georgian art.
