Zaza Berdzenishvili

Works

Info

Zaza Berdzenishvili, a representative of the “eighties” generation, introduces his own system of images to Georgian painting: colorful figurative ideograms create the “text” of his works, which repeat themselves through diverse pictorial models. The artist of colors achieves a stunning effect, and finds advantage in the possibilities of color gradation and harmony through contrast. His meticulously fine paintings offer viewers an original version of aesthetics and decoration.

Berdzenishvili’s work deals with the tenderest depths of our existence: the inseparable unity of the universe and man, the natural coexistence of sorrow and joy, and the inevitability of dreams. As such, in his work a naive model of world perception strangely intertwines with ancient archetypal cosmogonic systems.

The artist’s work is a mature attempt to preserve and restore the happiness of “being a child.” His nuanced painting is a model of imitating this happiness, accompanied by an eye-catching glow of childhood.
